Saturn-Hansaring, Cologne

In 1961, the husband and wife team of Anni and Wilhelm Waffenschmidt established Saturn Elektro-Handels GmbH & Co. KG., at Hansaring 97, Cologne’s oldest high-rise building. It was here that they laid the foundations for “Saturn”, the famous chain of consumer electronics stores.

In 2011, we were commissioned to recoat the floor at the Hansaring as part of a comprehensive remodelling project- the electronics group reopened its newly renovated head office in Cologne in September. The world’s largest entertainment centre at the Hansaring now offers its customers a huge selection of records, DVDs, computer games and over 200,000 CDs.

The outstanding highlight: Inspired by the original in Hollywood and taking a very innovative approach, we recreated the “Walk of Fame” in Saturn’s flagship store that has a footprint of just 10,000 m2.
